The very successful Crash Test Drama is run on the third Monday of each month at Dante’s in Fitzroy, Melbourne.  Crash Test helps to promote script development for new and established writers.  It is important that playwrights can hear their works read by good actors so that the works can be improved.  To encourage talented local actors to come along (so that writers get the benefit of hearing quality reads of their scripts), there is prize money.  Yes real cold, hard cash!

Every month there are two sections.
1. Five ten-minute plays are read, script-in-hand
2. An open section where individuals or groups can present a five-minute piece of their own devising.

The audience and judges vote on the winning play in the first section. Only the judges decide the winner of the five-minute section. The writer and cast of the winning play as judged by the audience share 70% of the takings. Winners of the five-minute section receive the remaining 30% share of the door.

The winning play as decided by the judges goes onto the Bearing Your Arts Production shortlist. If the play chosen by the audience and the judges is the same play, that play is automatically guaranteed a production and a spot in Script Squirrel's Top 40.
For a mere $10 you can come along and enjoy the fun. Comedy, tragedy, romance, intrigue…
you never know what you will see.
